FireIce Partners with FomTec, Releases FireIce Polar EcoFoam Class A Foam

JUPITER, FL / ACCESSWIRE / May 21, 2018 / GelTech Solutions, Inc. (GLTC), an innovator in the use of environmentally-friendly polymers for fire suppression and protection, today announced the launch of FireIce Polar EcoFoam, a high-performance Class A Foam designed for a broad range of Class A fire applications, including wildland fire, wildland urban interface, structure fire, and applications where cold-water mixing is required. GelTech has begun marketing FireIce Polar EcoFoam to wildland fire agencies.

As federal, state, and local wildland fire agencies continue to manage increasing fire activity with tighter budgetary constraints, FireIce Polar EcoFoam is a cost-effective class A foam that firefighters can use in fire engines, helicopters, and fixed wing airtankers, using existing foam injection equipment and without changing their standard operating procedures. FireIce Polar EcoFoam is environmentally friendly, non-hazardous, and free of fluorinated surfactants. In addition, FireIce Polar EcoFoam has excellent cold-water mixing ability, which is critical for our northern United States and Canadian agency customers.

GelTech partnered with FomTec of Sweden, a world-leader in innovative firefighting foams, in an exclusive relationship to market FomTec’s products under the FireIce brand name for wildland firefighting. FireIce Polar EcoFoam is now listed under the US Forest Service Qualified Products List, specification 5100-307a, for Class A Foams. It is also tested by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to the ATSM E1321 and conforms to NFPA 18 and NFPA 1150. It is also now listed by GelTech on the United States General Services Administration online purchasing marketplace, GSA Advantage.

“FireIce Polar EcoFoam is the next step in our vision of the FireIce brand being an industry leader in environmentally friendly fire chemicals for wildland firefighting agencies,” stated Matt Struzziero, Vice President of the FireIce Wildland Fire Division. “We are thrilled to be expanding our product offerings to our current customers, as well as many other municipal, state, and federal agencies that already use Class A foams. We believe that our customer agencies will immediately recognize the performance and cost benefits of FireIce Polar EcoFoam. We will use our existing network of warehouses to enable the fastest possible response time for agencies ordering the product.”

“We are very pleased to team up with FireIce, as this will enhance the distribution of our Class A foam into the US market,” said John Olav Ottesen, Managing Director for FomTec. “We believe in constant research and development and a strong focus on performance, in combination with sustainable and environmentally responsible products. Our Enviro Class A is one product in a range of Enviro products that is a result of more than 10 years of intense product development and hundreds of large scale fire tests. We are proud to bring these products to the US market.”

About GelTech’s Wildland Fire Division

GelTech Solutions Wildland Fire Division specializes in providing cutting-edge fire chemicals and equipment, as well as training and support, to wildland fire agencies around the world. Our talented team has extensive wildland fire and aviation experience in federal, state and Canadian government agencies, allowing us to understand the specific needs, challenges and goals of our customers in the wildland fire industry. As an agile organization, we have an ability to be fast moving, flexible and robust – capable of rapid response to unexpected challenges, events, and opportunities in a wildland fire environment where the “new normal” of large and complex fires is unprecedented.

With fire seasons starting earlier and running longer than in past decades, providing wildfire response has become far costlier and more difficult to manage. Agencies that have implemented FireIce as part of their airtanker and engine programs have seen significant cost reductions in both direct costs, personnel support required and product efficiencies. GelTech Solutions also provides fixed and mobile airtanker and helicopter bases which can be rapidly deployed with our FireIce products to accommodate additional firefighting resources in a cost effective and timely manner, with expert support available at all times.

GelTech Solutions, under the guidance of chief technology officer Peter Cordani, developed the original FireIce product as a next-generation, environmentally-friendly firefighting agent in 2007. Over the last ten years, GelTech’s team of wildland fire specialists has expanded the original FireIce product to a portfolio of FireIce branded fire chemicals, equipment and services designed to help wildland fire agencies around the world fight fire in a safer, more effective, less costly and more environmentally friendly way.
